Matthew joined BBR Partners in 2014 and is our General Counsel, overseeing the firm’s legal affairs and advising on regulatory and compliance matters.  Matthew has substantial experience with complex corporate transactions, asset management, securities laws and investment adviser regulation. He is also a member of BBR’s Compliance Committee and Cybersecurity Committee.

Prior to joining BBR Partners, Matthew was a Principal and Counsel in charge of legal and compliance at Asset Management Finance, a Credit Suisse affiliate investing in asset and wealth management businesses.  Prior to that, Matthew was Vice President and Counsel in AllianceBernstein’s Corporate/Securities/M&A group where he focused on the formation, operation and investment of private funds.  Prior to joining AllianceBernstein, Matthew was a senior associate at Gunderson Dettmer specializing in the representation of technology start-ups and in advising private funds investing in technology businesses in both emerging and developed markets.  Matthew began his legal career at Cravath, Swaine & Moore representing investment banks, private equity funds and corporate clients in M&A, securities and corporate finance transactions.

Matthew earned a BA in Political Science, summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles, a MBA from Columbia Business School, and a JD, with honors, from Columbia Law School.  Matthew is admitted to the New York Bar.
